This past weekend I had the great pleasure of participating in the Hilton Head Bridal Show at Hampton Hall Clubhouse.  The event was a huge success as hundreds of newly engaged brides and their families filled the ballroom in hopes … Continue reading

Say "I Do" with Something Blue!

You hear it time and again that the bride must have something old, something new, something borrowed  and something new, but do you know why this is so? The saying comes from the Old English rhyme, ”Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe” and simply means they are carried as good luck charms.

Each item represents the following:

  • Something Old – Continuity
  • Something New- Optimism for the Future
  • Something Borrowed – Borrowed Happiness
  • Something Blue – Purity, Love and Fidelity
  • A Sixpence in your Shoe – A wish for Good Fortune and Prosperity
Usually, it’s quite easy to find something old (i.e. heirloom jewelry), new (i.e. the dress!) and borrowed (i.e. a broach in your hair), but blue can be a tricky one! Here are a few ways you can incorporate that “Something Blue” into your wedding attire:

12 Unique Place Card Ideas

Place cards are a creative and fun way to introduce guests to the theme of an event! They don’t have to be expensive or over the top to make a statement either. I like to set each place card at the guest’s seats to give the tables the perfect finishing touch. It also allows you the opportunity to double their place card as a favor!

If you plan to go this route too, make sure you have a way to communicate to guests which table they’re assigned to without them having to walk around on a hunt for their seat. This can be as easy as having a calligrapher write out the names alphabetically with their table assignments next to it. It’s a simple extra step to take to create another little detail your guests will remember from your event.

Here are 12 fun and unique ideas to inspire you!
